BEFORE 9/15 UPDATE:

AFTER 9/15 UPDATE

It appears that it reverted to my old face, but in higher definition. No complaints.

Also, one Ele face is very odd...

I'm honestly getting fed up with this.

I was one win away from glad point, and we couldn't go any farther because there was a new build...aka, I lost out on a glad because they were changing the way some of the chars faces looked.

If that doesn't bum ya out a bit, not sure what would.

Eh, all my characters look the same. (But most of the changes seem to be with female characters, while all mine are male.)

That ele face always has a beauty mark on it. That's my Ele's face btw.

Edit:

Gaile, would you please notify the art team to take a look at this thread?

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10028462

It's a collection of graphic glitches players found in game. ^__^

I'm really disappointed with the new apparence of my warrior girl *sigh*

At left, before... Very beautiful character. At right, the new model, horrible...

Please, Gaile, say at your team I need to come back my former character!

(Sorry for my bad english, I'm french : D)

Well the update fixed the most obvious problems on the faces of my characters, which I'm very happy about... my mes can now show her face to the light again! I can live with my necro's new open mouth I suppose but I'm still not that pleased about it.

Now the faces look decent, please fix the right shoulders of ALL my female characters (except my assassin). To varying degrees, they all have their right shoulder dislocated into their back when looked at from behind. It's worst on my necro, but all others except the assassin have it. The recent update seems to have made it worse (I could ignore it before, but now it just jumps out at me, especially in the worst cases). This is a problem with the model itself... not just a specific armor, not a specific movement, and not even a specific class. I think that's big enough to warrant a fix.

I luckily, was not effected by the changes. I did notive some changes to my character's faces, but mostly they just are now higher quality.

Hmm, since it was said that Anet is looking at these threads, I thought I might register and post some glitches. Image from the char creation screen:

Right: a black dot
Middle: the scalp pieces don't come together at the seam above the ear
Left: lighting glitch and the seam again

They show up clearer in game especially if you rotate your view a bit. Anyway, not a big deal but my monk has one side of the head shaved and the scalp seams are a bit disturbing , and I don't remember noticing them before the update.

Hmm, they didn't close my warrior's mouth... are they still working on changes or was that update the only one that they're doing? Because I still notice a -lot- of skin problems on various characters, particularly all the female warrior chins, and on both sides of the nose.

Still, I've noticed the changes that -were- made and they look good so far. Keep up the good work!

TBH, it's only apparent in certain lighting situations. Oft seen when facing direct light source and not so much away. Looking away she looks pretty much the same as before, just... fuller? Added polys/vertices are my guess.
I am also still getting those same lines on the face of my mesmer too (not the same face though). Looking at the new character creation screen there are 4 tyrian female mesmer faces which have the lines - #2 on row 1, #1, #2 & #3 on row 3. You might extend that to #1 on row 1 too, but I'm not sure what it used to look like - so that might be normal.

It only seems to be the mesmers with the glitch too.

I wouldn't have mind if the face looked more manly. But, yeah... there's eyeshadow and possibly eyeliner on him now. Reminds me of the emo schoolkids nowadays wearing black eyeliner to go to school. I hope they can change it to a face without eyeshadow/eyeliner and any lip biting or revert it back to the less fruity face (i.e. the Orlando Bloom face).

Edit: Here's the face before the update.

(had to jack it from the mesmer screenshot forum, apologies to the player who the character belongs to)

I'm impressed. Sure, there are a lot of people still unhappy, and perhaps justifiably so, but the artists at Anet are obviously TRYING to fix the problems. Every one of them that I personally noticed has been fixed.

Knowing that this thread is really doing some good (and I assume it will continue to do so) I feel obligated to post pictures of other faces that might need an edit, even if I don't use them myself.

These lovely ladies could probably do with some poly adjustment around the eyes. Mesmers are THE VAINEST, you know. ^-^

And really, people, stop judging other people's opinions. If THEY say THEIR character is bad now, THEY are right, not you. Who cares if you think that the addition of eyeliner to a fierce warrior woman is an improvement, the person who picked that face thinks it's bad, and that's all that matters.

How about we get a choice wheather we want the ability to talk in cutscenes or look good?

Maybe for each character affected, you would get the choice to change the face to the new version, or keep the old version. I personally don't care if my mesmer can speak in cutscenes if I'm just going to delete her anyway. and in the character creation screen, just add version 1 and version 2 faces, instead of removing the old faces.

I don't see why we suddenly need lip synching if we did fine without it and the game is based around pvp.

Only problems that I have that are bothering me are the open mouths. Just close the ones that were originaly closed. Also I think that there will be many people who will not be satisfied with their new looks once the fixes have been set. I think that we should beable to have a couple of chances to pick new faces. I would not want it to be something that can be done at will at any time. Perhaps limit it to 5 times per each character.

I don't see what the problem is in half of these complaints.. Some of the before and after pictures differ mainly because of lighting and angle changes.

One thing I do believe is that the models were always like this.. but with the refinements in geometry we're just noticing some of these things for the first time. I remember seeing some strange looking geometry before the update. In some cases maps need to be cleaned up.. in other cases points may need to be pulled.. but in most cases I see no trouble.

I haven't noticed problems on any of my 18 character faces.

obviously theres little bugs with the changes with eles and all others, but still eles got way better changes over all.
Are you serious? Her expression was much better before to me. ah and also, this is her face after the 19/5 update:

Thanks to anet for reducing the retarded look, i really appreciate that although i still prefered the 1st look/expression. That chin is still a bit large, I think. maybe my eyes are playing jokes on me but is it possible to help her? PLS, she is only 1 year old and doesn't deserve to stay like that!

My mesmer's face is bottom-left one and eyes "shadows" werent still corrected in yesterday's update - these are my old screenshots from previous posts:

On login screen they are not visible but in some game locations (like Shing Jea Monstery) u can also see dark shadows on left/right sides of lips...

Also i noticed that Prophecies areas/outposts (like my guild hall) less likely cause "bad shadows". Shadows more often appear in Factions' areas/outposts.

After last update all i saw was "a little more" open mouth .... and some white pixels inside.. this looks "sad".. .. plz close it again like before...
